Wordplay is one of the things I like to explore when it comes to conceptual design. For 2015’s Lunar New Year, it was the Goat zodiac year. So wordplay came into play for this EDM to Petit-o!’s clients, with the message carried through from the Inbox view right into the EDM design.
EMAIL SUBJECT LINE
Objective: Invoke curiosity
- “Hopefully this CNY EDM isn’t too ‘meh’ for you..“
Objective: Be a continuation of the subject line
- “Possible we raise the bahh in saying huat-py new year?“, to lead into the email.
The email enjoyed a 66.7% Open Rate, as compared to the 12.5% average open rate for Creative Services/Agency industry as reported by MailChimp. Petit-o! also received several personal replies from clients complimenting the creativity of the design and thankyou-s for the email.
